Early literacy research is consistent on this: children learn foundational concepts fastest in the language they think in. Building letters, numbers and categories in Turkish gives a child something to transfer from when a second language arrives.
That is why mother-tongue material is not a step backwards — it is the base the rest is built on.
Whether the child does something rather than watches something. Tapping a correct answer is interaction; passively watching an animation is television with extra steps.
Also look for whether difficulty adjusts. An app that is always too easy stops teaching, and one that is always too hard teaches the child that they are bad at it.
Short term, yes. Longer term, there is a well-documented risk: heavy external reward can reduce interest in the activity itself, so the child works for stars rather than because the activity is engaging.
Rewards that mark progress work better than rewards that replace the point. The activity should be the reason; the star is just a marker.
